DESCRIPTION:The Wake Forest Parks\, Recreation & Cultural Resources (PRCR) Department will begin accepting Youth Girls NFL Flag Football applications on Friday\, May 1\, 2026\, for girls ages 11–18. \nRegistration Schedule\n\nMay 1–7: In-town Wake Forest residents only\nMay 8–31: Wake Forest residents & out-of-town residents\nJune 1–8: Late registration (includes a $15 late fee)\n\nHow to Register\nOnline registration is available via Team Sideline at https://bit.ly/TeamSidelineWF. In-person registrations are accepted at the Joyner Park Community Center\, 701 Harris Road\, Wake Forest\, NC. \nFees\n\n$60 for Wake Forest residents\n$100 for non-Wake Forest residents\n\nAge Divisions & Eligibility\nTwo age divisions are offered: 11–13 and 14–18. A participant’s eligibility is determined by her age on Sept. 1\, 2026. A birth certificate is required for new participants. \nSeason Schedule\nTeam placement and practices begin in June\, with games played from early-July through mid-September. \nVolunteer Coaches Needed\nVolunteer coaches are needed for the season. All classes are free\, open to area residents of all ages\, and require no registration. Classes meet 6:30–7:30 p.m. at the E. Carroll Joyner Park Amphitheater\, 701 Harris Road. \nMondays – Women’s Self Defense\nInstructors from Quest Martial Arts will teach participants a variety of techniques to avoid danger and defend themselves if necessary. Sessions focus on practical\, instinctive methods to get you out of harm’s way.\nMay 4 | May 11 | May 18\nNo class on Memorial Day – May 25 \nTuesdays – Cynergy Fit\nCynergy Fit is an Outdoor Bootcamp Community in Wake Forest. SUMMARY:Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive
DESCRIPTION:The US Postal Service and National Association of Letter Carriers will lead America’s Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive throughout Wake Forest on Saturday\, May 9\, with local support from Tri-Area Ministry and the Northern Community Food Security Team (NCFST). \nOn that day\, Wake Forest community members are encouraged to leave a bag of non-perishable food items next to their mailbox before the regular distribution of mail. Letter carriers will collect the items which will be delivered to and distributed by the Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry\, 149 E. Holding Ave. \nSuggested non-perishable food items include:\n– Canned vegetables\, fruits\, and proteins\n– Peanut butter and jelly\n– Pasta\, rice\, and boxed meals\n– Cereal and granola bars \nPlease note: Glass containers and expired foods will not be accepted. \nDonations collected in Wake Forest will stay in Wake Forest – directly supporting local families served by Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry. \nFor more information\, visit https://bit.ly/StampOutHungerWF or email Community Outreach Manager Andrew Brown at abrown@wakeforestnc.gov.
