WAKE FOREST, NC — The Wake Forest Police Department (WFPD) hosts a drug take back Wake Forest event this Saturday, April 25. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Wegmans, 11051 Ligon Mill Road. Officers will set up the drop-off area just outside the main entrance facing Dr. Calvin Jones Highway/NC 98 Bypass, weather permitting.
What Is National Drug Take Back Day?
The DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day gives residents a safe and free way to dispose of unused, expired, or unwanted medications. The program targets pills and tablets that often sit forgotten in medicine cabinets. Furthermore, it protects local rivers and streams from pharmaceutical contamination. Moreover, proper disposal prevents accidental poisonings and reduces the risk of drug misuse. The service is completely free, anonymous, and no questions asked.
Drug Take Back Wake Forest: What to Bring
To help staff sort items quickly, bring medications in their original containers with labels intact. However, the event does not accept the following items:
Creams and lotions
Liquids
Vitamins
Over-the-counter medications
Needles or sharps
In addition, information about e-cigarettes, vaping devices, and medical waste disposal is available on the Town of Wake Forest website.
