Three Street Disruptions Hit Wake Forest This Week: Power Outage, Lane Closures & Paving

Updates from the Town of Wake Forest:

A power outage, South Main Street lane closures, and South Franklin Street milling & paving will affect Wake Forest residents starting this week

Wake Forest residents should plan ahead for three separate infrastructure disruptions — including Wake Forest road closures on two streets and a planned power outage — starting this week, affecting travel and utilities in different parts of town.

Wake Forest Road Closures: South Franklin Street Milling & Paving

The closures are necessary for sidewalk replacement. Flaggers and signage will be in place, but delays are expected and drivers may want to use alternate routes.

Beginning Friday, April 17, Fred Smith Company — a contractor on the South Franklin Street Widening Project — will start milling and paving operations along the corridor from Artisan Drive to Sheetz (1895 S. Franklin St.). Work is expected to continue throughout the week of April 20, with striping scheduled to begin the week of April 27.

Motorists should expect temporary traffic pattern changes and use caution while traveling through the work zone, especially in areas where asphalt tack has been applied. Drivers should remain attentive and respectful of construction personnel in the area.

Residents can also track current Wake Forest road closures and restrictions through the Town’s interactive Traffic Alerts Map.

Power Outage: Deacons Ridge and Avondale

Wake Forest Power has scheduled a planned outage Monday, April 20, from 8 a.m. to noon that will affect approximately 115 customers in and around the Deacons Ridge and Avondale neighborhoods.

Affected addresses include 721-760 Rockville Road, Ledgerock Road, 236-500 South Allen Road, 601-631 Elm Avenue, 111-177 Deacon Ridge Street, and 621-628 Middle Bridge Road.

Crews will use the outage window to safely replace a switching cabinet. Residents in the affected area are encouraged to plan accordingly.
